Mile High Magicians – Denver Magic Club

By October 1, 2019No Comments

When I meet people after shows, they often ask where they can learn the secrets and techniques to become a magician. Since magic is a secret art form, is there actually a place to learn these types of skills?

Regrettably, you can’t get a college degree in magic and Hogwarts isn’t real, but there are national clubs that support magic education. The biggest organizations are the International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Society of American Magicians (I’m a member of both). Local chapters of these organizations are in almost every major city.

Our club in Denver is called the Mile High Magicians and was founded in 1941. We meet the second Thursday of every month from 7:00pm – 9:00pm at Riverpointe Senior Living. I’m currently the Newsletter Editor, which means I make sure everyone is informed about upcoming meetings, shows, and lectures.

David Parr Lecture for the Mile High Magicians

At the Mile High Magician meetings, we perform for one another, share secrets, and give advice on how to be better magicians. We also bring in magicians from across the country to lecture for our group. This month, David Parr lectured for the Mile High Magicians and performed his one man show at the Theater of Dreams in Castle Rock.

David had the longest running magic show in Chicago, The Magic Cabaret, which ran for 10 years. He also appeared on Penn & Teller: Fool Us in an episode titled “Does This Trick Ring a Bell?” (Season 4, Episode 5). On the show, David performed an amazing routine with playing cards and was able to fool Penn & Teller.

During the lecture, David taught amazing magic with a paper fortune teller, an origami bird, a dollar bill, and playing cards. There was something for every type of magician to learn. After the meeting, we went out to dinner and I got to catch up with an old friend. I’ve had David as a guest on my WellAttended Summit and on my WellAttended Podcast. You can listen to the episode from the podcast below:

Please send me a message if you’d like to learn more about our Mile High Magicians club. We always love meeting people with an interest in magic.

I’m also available to entertain at corporate event, trade shows, and private parties. Click here to learn more about my shows or click here to get in touch.
